Itinerary

Day 1Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will be picked up from the airport by your guide who will brief you about your 6-day expedition in Uganda. After the briefing, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. Arrive for relaxation, dinner, and overnight at Elephant Hab Lodge.

Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s best all-round safari destination. In addition to being home to 4 of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo), this bio-diverse park is studded with wetlands that support an astonishing 5,000 hippos. Other residents include large flocks of flamingos, pelicans, and other aquatic birds. Weather permitting, the views of the glacial peaks of the Rwenzori Mountain, Africa’s second-highest mountain after Kilimanjaro, are also exceptional.

Day 2Morning game drive and boat cruise

You will wake up for an early breakfast at your lodge as you prepare for your morning game drive around Queen Elizabeth National Park. During the morning game drive, you will spot wildlife species on the savannah plains of this national park such as antelopes, elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs, and hippos among others. After the game drive, you will have lunch. During your trip around Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will also enjoy an evening boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel where Lake Edward and Lake George meet.

During the boat ride, you will spot buffalos, elephants, hippos, and Nile crocodiles along the shores of the lake. You will also see various bird species such as eagles, kingfishers, and herons among others. You will proceed to Elephant Hab Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3Transfer to Bwindi National Park, community walk

You will have an early breakfast at your lodge and then proceed to check out of the lodge. After checking out, you will be driven to Bwindi National Park for more adventures. On arrival at Bwindi National Park, you will check in at your lodge.

You will enjoy a community tour where you will interact with the local community of the Batwa who are forest dwellers. They depend on fruit gathering and hunting in the Bwindi Forest for their food requirements. You will also learn about their culture and way of life, watch traditional dance performances, and learn about their local herbs and food preparation and many other cultural aspects. After the Batwa experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4Gorilla trekking

You will wake up early for breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter, you will be driven to the park headquarters to start your gorilla trekking experience. At the park headquarters, you will be briefed about the gorilla-trekking activity before continuing to the forest to look for the gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

During the gorilla trekking experience, you will follow different trails in the forest as you search for the gorillas in their natural habitat. On locating them, you will spend 1 hour with the gorillas. Afterward, you will trek back to the briefing point at the park headquarters where you will be met by your guide who will drive you back to Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Wake up and enjoy a hearty breakfast before you transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch, you will engage in a game drive and explore Lake Mburo National Park in search of different wildlife species such as zebras, buffalos, warthogs, and antelopes among others. You will return to your lodge after the game drive for dinner and an overnight stay at Leopard Rest Camp.
